Meekness begins within

It is a popular verse in the Bible that says, delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4) But what about the verses before that?! Fret not thyself because of evildoers, and neither be envious against the workers of iniquity, for they shall soon be cut down as the grass and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord and do good and so shall thou dwell in the land and verily thou shall be fed.

It is my belief we cut ourselves short from what God has for us because we get burned in the test. When we entangle ourselves with the affairs of this world and work bitterness towards other people because of offences, we act in a way that is displeasing to God. When we are snared by the ways of man and endure in our own wrath, we are not righteous in Gods eyes. (James 1:20) But the bible says, there is no occasion of stumbling in him that loves his brother. This means not only on the outside but also with the thoughts in our head. God resists pride, so anything that cause contention and strife is not from God, and God won’t hear such a spirit, but a broken spirit he won’t despise.
